What Bizakq actually is

Bizakq is a directory of the jewelers working in South Florida, and a free introduction service on top of it. You say what you need — a resize, a diamond, an appraisal, a buyer for something you inherited — and instead of calling nine shops and getting nine different stories, you leave one request and we point you at a bench that actually does that work. There is no charge to the person looking, and no obligation at the end of it.

Two things worth being straight about. First, the listings are compiled from public information about the trade, and most of them are unclaimed — the shop has not yet taken over its own profile. That means a listing is a starting point, not an endorsement, and we do not describe anyone as vetted or verified until they are. Second, this is South Florida, not the whole country: Miami, Aventura, Boca Raton and the two boutique districts. What we do have behind it is Bizak & Co., in the Miami jewelry trade since 1996, which is why an introduction from here tends to get answered.

Where South Florida's jewelers actually are

Almost the entire trade sits in five places, and knowing which one you want saves a wasted afternoon.

• The Seybold Building, 36 NE 1st St downtown — Miami's jewelry building and by far the biggest concentration: independent dealers, diamond wholesalers, estate stock, custom benches and the watchmakers. This is where the trade itself buys, and where prices are negotiated.
• Aventura — an exchange of independent jewelers north of the city, with the same model as Seybold and a shorter drive from Broward.
• Boca Raton, on Glades Rd — Palm Beach County's exchange: diamonds, estate jewelry, custom work, watches and repairs.
• Bal Harbour Shops — maison boutiques under one roof, high jewelry and grand-complication watches, at list price.
• The Miami Design District — the maisons again, this time in their own standalone flagships.

The short version: the exchanges are for estate, custom work, repairs and a negotiated price; the boutiques are for a current collection piece with a warranty and a box.
